2007 Tall Ships berth availability
The Tall Ships Race series brings together sailing vessels from all over the world crewed by young people aged 15-25. The events take place each summer, although John Laing may not be involved in every single year. The locations are different every time; but the series generally involves a couple of races and at least one “cruise in company” where vessels sail together and visit different ports.
The fleet races in several different classes. John Laing races in Class C, competing against other similar vessels; but crew members also get a chance to see other entrants including the big Class A square-rigged sailing vessels.
Every host port has a big festival with events for crew members and opportunities to meet people from other boats.
Tall Ships crew members on board John Laing do not necessarily need any previous sailing experience, but you do need plenty of enthusiasm and you must be prepared for voyages which can be more challenging than our regular trips. John Laing is allowed to have four crew members aged 15; the others must all be aged 16-25.
2007 will see John Laing taking part in the Tall Ships series in the Baltic - meansing that there will be adventurous voyages to get us to and from the Baltic, as well as the Tall Ships events themselves. Some of these delivery voyages, marked *, may be open to younger crew members.
