You may be able to get help funding your trip
There are a number of ways that you may be able to get some funds to help you pay for your trip.
Chris Ellis Award
If you have already done a voyage with us, enjoyed it and want to come again, you can enter the Chris Ellis Award - there's an annual prize of up to £200 off the cost of another voyage for the best diary, logbook, story or picture from someone who has done a voyage with us.
Age limit 12-25.
Deadline is Christmas each year.
Other Bursaries and Funding
- James Myatt Trust: The James Myatt Trust is a charitable organisation that helps fund voyages for those that would otherwise be unable to afford their berth.
- Royal Thames Yacht Club charitable trust: The Royal Thames Yacht Club funds a number of voyages each year for those who cannot afford it.
- Sail Training International Sultanate of Oman Bursary Scheme: Sail Training International has a bursary scheme for those who are interested in participating in the tall ships races and can't otherwise afford it.
OYT South Bursaries
Ocean Youth Trust South itself also has a limited amount of bursary funding available to help people aged 12-25 who cannot afford our full voyage prices.
For more details on all of these funding options, see the main Ocean Youth Trust South website.
